Design an organism
Pupils get to work on the topic of evolution and create a game in which they bring their own designed organism to life.
Pupils get to work on the topic of evolution and create a game in which they bring their own designed organism to life. An interactive and playful programme around evolution in which pupils are introduced to programming principles.
This programme consists of a lesson you, as a teacher, carry out yourself using a lesson plan. Afterwards, creator Jan-Willem Otto comes to the classroom for one or two 90-minute classes.
Creating a game involves pupils in programming, designing and developing a story. They work on 21st-century skills such as creative thinking, ICT-skills, computational thinking, problem-solving and collaboration.
Jan-Willem Otto developed this workshop in collaboration with Nieuwe Veste, STRP Education and Het Brederocollege. Jan-Willem Otto, designer and musician, builds interactive installations and musical instruments in which the user becomes the artist. Jan-Willem also believes it is important to design educational programmes that teach you to be creative with technology.
