Are you an education, arts or culture professional? Then come to the Spacemakers x TWIST education meet-up during STRP Festival 2023! During this inspiring afternoon, we will look at today through the eyes of the future. If we experience that the future exists only in our imagination, what new insights do we gain about teaching and learning today?

Together with co-creators Studio Krom and facilitator and speaker Loes Damhof, we design an afternoon in which we explore the Futures Literacy skill through technology in an interactive way. With different professionals, you will delve into future thinking, something we deal with every day in education: we predict, plan, fear, and hope. Yet the future exists only in our imagination of expectations and desires, while it has much influence on the decisions we make now.

Loes Damhof takes you step by step through how to become proficient in future thinking and how to use it today. With the interactive tools and installation by design duo Studio Krom, Futures Literacy theory becomes a practical and physical experience in which we share knowledge, inspire each other and network. 

Afterwards, you will have the tools and experience to take this Futures Literacy to your own practice. With students and/or colleagues, you can work with the different future scenarios yourself to shape the now.

LOES DAMHOF

Loes Damhof was elected as Lecturer of the Year of all higher education in The Netherlands in 2016, and decided to spend the attached prestigious Comenis Award on developing Futures Literacy pilots. In addition to her research and teaching practices, she consults and trains staff of global organizations such as FutureWomenX, UNESCO, UNFCCC, ClimateKIC, FORMS, UN, Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and Oxfam in multidisciplinary projects. As a Futures Literacy Expert, she designs, develops and facilitates so-called Futures Literacy Labs: collective intelligence knowledge creation processes across the globe that challenge and raise fundamental questions on leadership, migration, climate change and technology.

STUDIO KROM

Krom is a design studio that explores the possibilities of new media. We create interactive experiences in the physical and digital realm. In recent years we have started to focus more and more on human behavior within our projects. We find it exciting and interesting to capture the unique and unpredictable qualities of individuals and put it on display. Next to the work we do for clients, we always reserve time and space to freely experiment with design and technology and to work on our own ideas.
